Magical Moments at the WPMA Gold, Gem, and Mineral Show 2025
As I stepped into the Evergreen Fairgrounds in Monroe, Washington, on a chilly February evening in 2025, I was about to embark on a journey that would leave me enchanted by the sparkle of gold and the glittering colors of gemstones. It was my first time in this small mountain town, and I was eager to assist in setting up the Washington Prospectors Mining Association's (WPMA) Gold Show. The event was a testament to the magic that happens when people come together, united by their passion for prospecting and mining.
As we arrived to help with the setup, I was apprehensive about interacting with people outside of my usual environment, having spent most of my time in the ER. But as I met fellow WPMA members, I found it easier than expected to connect with these individuals who were passionate about their craft. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie, as we worked together to bring the show to life.
The next morning, the fairgrounds transformed into a vibrant space filled with stones, light, water, tools, sluices, and a community eager to share their knowledge and resources. Children were busy perfecting their panning skills in tubs filled with water, while the older generation shared their expertise with the younger ones. I was reminded of the joy of passing down life skills to the next generation, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging among this group of people who understand the value of collaboration and community.
The WPMA Gold Show was more than just an event; it was an invitation to learn and grow with a wonderful community. As we immersed ourselves in the world of gold and gems, we discovered the history and stories behind these precious stones. The event featured hourly door prize drawings, raffles for gold, gems, and equipment, and lectures on prospecting, making it a treasure trove of knowledge and excitement.
Special guests from the Gold Rush TV shows added to the excitement, signing autographs and taking photos with attendees. The show also offered a chance to buy gold, silver, gemstones, and jewelry, as well as prospecting equipment, making it a comprehensive experience for all involved.
As the lights went down and the tables came down, marking the end of the event, I felt a pang of sadness. But the realization that WPMA hosts such events regularly, and that I could stay connected through their Facebook page and website, filled me with excitement for future gatherings. Since then, we have participated in multiple trips with WPMA members and look forward to continuing our journey, even as we move to Yakima.
The WPMA Gold, Gem, and Mineral Show 2025 was a magical experience that not only brought us closer to the world of prospecting but also introduced us to a community that values collaboration and shared passion. Whether you're a seasoned prospector or just starting out, these events are a must-visit, offering a chance to learn, grow, and connect with like-minded individuals.
